The central authority for the trade union movement in Ireland, the ICTU’s principal role is to co-ordinate the activities of trade unions in Ireland. Congress Youth comprises young trade unionists who campaign on issues affecting young people, in particular in the workplace. Congress Youth also runs a youth awareness programme and a confidential information service that advises young people on their employment rights.
