Grow It Yourself supports people around the world to live healthier, happier, and more sustainable lives by growing some of their own food. Their mission is to educate and enable a global movement of food growers whose collective actions will help to rebuild a sustainable food system. They empower and encourage people to grow some of their own food at home, at school, at work and in the community. They strive to inspire Food Empathy – a deeper connection with food that leads to a happier, healthier, and more sustainable life – in all their projects and programmes.
GIY’s run a GROW at School programme, which is a food education and literacy programme for primary school children where every school receives a garden; every child has access to fresh food and learns how to grow their own food; every teacher has the resources to teach about where food comes from; and food literacy is embedded into the national primary school curriculum.
