The Children’s Rights Alliance welcomes this opportunity to provide feedback on Tusla’s draft Model
of Care for the Separated Children Seeking International Protection (SCSIP) service.1 We welcome
the ongoing improvements Tusla have made following the pressure put on the service due to the
sharp increase in numbers of unaccompanied and separated children (UASC). This increase was as a
result of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine arriving in Ireland since 2022 as well as
a substantial increase in numbers of international protection applicants in the same period.
